In 1951 Villa Selvatico was purchased together with the surrounding farm by the da Porto family, originally from Vicenza.
The family transferred their interests here and began a progressive modernization of the agricultural activity. At that time, even in the face of a significant shift in labor from the agricultural sector to the then rapidly expanding industrial sector, the management of the land changed from a sharecropping organization to direct management by the owner with salaried labor, and machines and equipment were purchased for a more modern and efficient management of the land. The farm specialized in the cultivation of cereals and sugar beet, and later on of oilseeds.
During this period, the villa remained in the background of an agricultural activity that was still advanced for the time, and was used exclusively as a summer residence for the family.
At the beginning of the 1970s, Antonio da Porto, the current owner, began an important work of restoration of the various buildings that make up the monumental complex, a work that has never stopped since.
With a view to enhancing the complex and making its burdensome maintenance economically sustainable, but also with the intention of making it usable from a cultural-tourist point of view, an Agritourism business was started in 1997.
Today Villa Selvatico da Porto offers accommodation to tourists coming from all over the world. Visiting our magnificent Region they can, during their stay here, closely appreciate that culture of art, architecture and landscape that has expressed over the centuries the "Civilization of the Venetian Villas", a widespread Cultural Heritage that contributes to making our territory unique in the world.
