Villa Selvatico da Porto is a historic residence belonging to that typology of buildings located in a rural environment which is called “Villa Veneta”.
These buildings combined the function of mostly summer residence of the noble owners, and of operations center for the large farms owned by the same. For this reason they were structured in a residential part, architecturally elegant and often decorated internally with frescoes, and a rural part in which there were stables for horses or cattle, barns, warehouses for the farm products, accommodation for servants and service personnel.
The Villa was always surrounded by a large garden often enriched by small streams or lakes, for the entertainment of the owners who loved to spend the summer here on vacation, while all around the complex extended the farm.
Villa Selvatico da Porto in its architectural structure perfectly reflects this type of building and, a rather rare case in the current panorama of Venetian Villas, still performs the dual residential and agricultural function, being at the center of a thriving farm dedicated to the cultivation of cereals and oilseeds. Furthermore, for more than 25 years now, it has undertaken an agritourism activity in part of its buildings which today hosts the holiday of tourists from all over the world.
